BISD speaks on potential wind farm project

Breckenridge ISD board of trustees discussed the possibility of a wind farm project within the county and a potential Chapter 313 application, during their regular meeting last Monday, at the school administration office. There was also discussion about ESSER III funding and how the district is looking to spends that money.

Financials and possible Chapter 313 application
During their July 12 meeting, John Blackburn, the financial advisor for BISD, gave a summary on the district’s financial status at present. He also advised the board how to handle their existing bond payments and gave suggestions on how to refinance their debt.

The board spoke about how to handle state funding as part of their budget, along with a discussion about their current tax rate. Blackburn recommended the board members not go above the current tax rate of $1.05470.
