The city of Breckenridge put out two boil water notices in the past wee. ne for the 500 through 900 Blocks of North Parks, effective Thursday, Jan. 10, and one for the 600 through 700 blocs of Zest lm treet, effective unday, Jan. 13, according to release sfrom the city. In both cases, a water line broke during construction, causing the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality to recommend residents in the aficted areas boil their water before consumption.

To ensure the destruction of all harmful bacteria and other microbes within the water, all water for drinking, cooking and ice making should be boiled for two minutes. If residents prefer not to boil water, they may purchase bottled water or water from other suitable sources. The boil water notices will be in effect for a minimum of 48 hours. hen the notice is rescinded, the city will notify each customer directly. The Breckenridge American will also inform our readers when the notices have been rescinded.
