After falling short of their fundraising goal last year and canceling the event, the Breckenridge Chamber of Commerce announced Boomfest will be returning this year due to local sponsors and community support.
Chamber Executive Director Maylyn VanWinkle said that support from local businesses made the event possible this year.
“(They) stepped back in to help us make sure that the event goes on,” VanWinkle said. “It is a 4th of July festival. We do it out at the lake at Corley's Landing. We'll have some food trucks out there, some live music going and then the fireworks will start at 9 p.m.”
The chamber made the announcement in July that they would not be holding the annual show due to not securing funding. The chamber attempted to raise funding for a drone show, with an estimated cost of $25,000, and also fell short of funding that event last year.
The chamber held a 10k fun run and walk to help raise funds for the event in June 2025. VanWinkle said after that event last year they raised just under $500 to be set aside for this year’s Boomfest.
“This was a tough decision, and we want to thank everyone who supported and believed in the event,” she said. “We know how much our community looks forward to Boomfest, and we’re already looking ahead with hopes to bring it back bigger and better in 2026.”
The event Saturday, July 4 at Hubbard Creek Lake will have free admission but the chamber asks for donations at the gate that will support the local volunteer fire departments.
The chamber is also seeking additional donations for the annual fireworks show with levels of $1,000, $500 and $250.
