• Both Stephens County and the City of Breckenridge in a conjoined effort will be collecting brush piles from residents in the city limits free of charge. Residents need to have the brush and tree trimmings they wish to be collected on the curb by Friday, Oct. 12. The dimensions for the brush and limbs need to be no bigger than four inches in diameter by no longer than six feet. The brush can also be taken to the Stephens County convenience location on Industrial Loop, from Tuesday-Thursday from 1-5 p.m. and Friday-Saturday from 9-5 p.m. For more information please contact the City of Breckenridge at 254-559-8287.

• The Eliasville Reunion 2018 will begin at 10 a.m. at the Eliasville community center. A meal will be provided for $10 a person at 12 p.m. Afternoon business meeting and visiting. Please bring any old pictures that you may have. Upkeep on the cemetery and tabernacle is accomplished through donations.
• The City of Breckenridge and will be hosting a Beans and Cornbread contest, during Octobers Breck Trade Days. The contest will be held in the Breck Trade barn at City Park. For more information call Pam Wright at 254-559-8287.
• The 11th Annual LaMancha Cook-Off at the La Mancha Ranch on Lake Leon 402 County Road 567 Eastland, Texas. Cook-off proceeds will be benefitting local animal shelters and rescues. For more information on competition please call 254-647-3651.
Tuesday, October 23
• Meet the Teacher night will be from 6-8 p.m. at McDonald’s located at 3726 W. Walker Street. A portion of the proceeds to benefit the South Elementary PTO.
Saturday, Oct. 27
• Stephens County Health Fair will be held from 7 to 11 a.m at the First Baptist Church Family Life Center at 301 S. Rose street. There will be more than 40 Health-related vendors at the event. There will also be free lab tests and $15 flu shots. For more information call 254-559-2295
• The class of 2023 J.R. High Halloween Ball. The ball will be from 6:30-9:30 p.m. at Shawna’s Bake Barn, located at 2603 W. Walker. Tickets will be sold for $5 ahead of time at lunch on Friday’s prior to event, or $7 at the door. Proceeds will benefit the Class of 2023 Project graduation and the Junior/Senior Prom.
Saturday, Nov. 10
• The Stephens County Humane Society is hosting its annual Wags & Whiskers 5k and Furry Fun Run. All proceeds will go to the humane society. The event starts at 8:30 with a staggered racing schedule by age. Well-behaved dogs on leashes are welcome to participate with their human. To be guaranteed a t-shirt, participants must be registered by Oct. 13. The cost is anywhere from $15 to $30 depending on age. Race day registration will be an additional $5.
