Wednesday, Feb. 6

• The Breckenridge American is accepting entries for “Valentine Cuties,” with the deadline being the specified date. This spread is specifically for children under the age of five, whose parents or grandparents want to show them off to the world. To enter, email editor@breckenridgeamerican.com, and send a photo of your child(ren), their name, age and the name of their parents or grandparents.

Thursday, Feb. 7

• There will be a fundraiser benefitting Dr. Goodall’s House and Virginia’s House scheduled for 5 p.m. at the Young County Arena, located at 120 Barclay Blvd., in Graham, Texas. Doors will open at 5 p.m. with a dinner catered by Dos Chili’s at 5:30 p.m. The presentation and bingo will begin at 6 p.m. For more information, contact Dr. Goodall’s House at 254-559-5451.

• The Breckenridge Chamber of Commerce is hosting its annual award ceremony, where they will award the 2018 Citizen of the Year, Ag Citizen of the Year and Business of the Year. The event will begin at 6 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church’s Christian Life Center. The event will include green chili chicken enchiladas, beef enchiladas, Mexican rice, charro beans, Mexican street corn, chips with fire-roasted tomato salsa and Texas sheet cake, all catered by The Rusty Rooster. Admission is $12 per person with the net admission proceeds going to the Chamber’s Breckenridge High School Scholarship Fund. Please RSVP before Thursday, Jan. 31. Friday, Feb. 8

• The Breckenridge Junior High School will host the Valentines Dance from 6 to 9 p.m. The school is raising funds to attempt to buy Chromebooks and will host a raffle at the dance. Raffle tickets are $1 each. There will be prizes ranging from $20 to $200. Those interested can contact the junior high office at 254-522-9600.

Saturday, Feb. 23

Starting at 9 a.m., the city of Breckenridge will be offering free tire recycling to residents until 4 p.m. or when the trucks fill up. It is limited to six tires per person. Equipment tires are not allowed. The exchange will take place at the City Convenience Station, 1548 FM 287 in Breckenridge, Texas.

• The Open Door at the 110 N. Live Oak. will host free GED classes 1 to 5 p.m. every Tuesday and Thursday. The classes are free.

• The Lions Club meets every Friday at noon at L&L Family Restaurant, 700 W. Walker Street.
