The Friends of Historic Breckenridge are hosting humorist Dr. Dennis Swanberg at the National Theatre in downtown Breckenridge at 6 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 21. Admission for adults is $10 and $5 for students. Tickets will be available for purchase at 5:30 p.m. the day of the event.

• First United Methodist Church, located at 419 W. Walker St. Children’s Chest is open from 9 a.m. to noon on the third Saturday each month. For more information, contact Ann Heckart at FMUC, 254-559-8208.

• The Open Door at the 110 N. Live Oak. will host free GED classes 1 to 5 p.m. every Tuesday and Thursday. The classes are free.

• The Rotary Club of Breckenridge meets every Tuesday from noon-1 p.m. at L&L Family Restaurant, 700 W. Walker St. For more information, visit breckenridgetxrotary.org .

• The Lions Club meets every Friday at noon at L&L Family Restaurant, 700 W. Walker Street.

• The Stephens County Retired School Personnel meets the first Thursday of every month. All retired Texas educators and support personnel are welcome. The group meets at L&L Family Restaurant at 11:30 a.m. For more information, call Jean Curtis at 254-559-8754.
