Breckenridge American's newsroom was ransacked and burglarized between Thursday night and Friday morning, Feb. 21-22.

An employee of the paper arrived Friday morning and discovered the scene. The Breckenridge Police Department was called shortly after. Included at the scene was debris, broken glass and missing items. The BPD began taking notes and gathering information after they arrived.

An investigation is being launched and police will continue to look into the incident. No information on the status of the investigation is known at this time, and we have not received a police report yet from officials. But we will continue to update the public as information is learned, while not interfering with the investigation as it unfolds.

It should be noted, however, that this incident will not interfere with our ability as a newspaper to continue to bring our readers the news of Breckenridge. We will continue to update the public, while providing other stories. We will also print a newspaper next Wednesday, Feb. 27. We also want to take this opportunity to thank our readers for sticking with us through this difficult time.

If you have any information or leads that may be useful to assisting in the investigation, please call the BPD at 254-559-2211. To learn more about this incident, check out the Feb. 27 edition of Breckenridge American.
