Breckenridge FFA members were celebrated earlier this month at the Pecan Valley District Banquet, where students from across the region gathered to recognize a year of leadership, competition and hands-on learning. For the Buckaroos, the evening marked a proud moment as several students earned top honors and chapter-wide recognition.
The banquet that took place Monday, Dec. 8 saw teams and individuals alike earn various recognitions for Breckenridge. First was the quiz team of Kadynce Kennedy, Sylee Mitchell, Isabelle Biddison and Gunnar Pearce who brought home third place, a testament to months of preparation and teamwork. The chapter’s skills team continued that momentum, with Rihana Fuller, Rachel Burchett and Dustie Lowrey capturing first place in their division.
Kennedy’s contributions to the chapter were highlighted throughout the night. In addition to her quiz team success, she was named senior ambassador and installed as a district officer alongside fellow Breckenridge student Rylee Fuller. The latter also earned distinction as a National Band participant, representing the district at the state level.
Rounding out the chapter’s achievements, Kason Burchett received the Lone Star degree, the highest honor awarded by the Texas FFA Association and a milestone reserved for students who demonstrate exceptional commitment to agricultural education and community service, according to the Texas FFA website. Students are only eligible to apply for the Lone Star degree after they have received the Chapter degree.
For Breckenridge FFA, the banquet served as both a celebration and a reflection of the chapter’s growing leadership footprint. Each award underscored the students’ dedication, the support of their advisors and families and the strong tradition of agricultural excellence in the community.
