Breckenridge hosting full calendar of community holiday events

Christmas is in the air in Breckenridge as the city prepares multiple holiday events for the community in December.

Wednesday, Dec. 8
Christmas Parade
Breckenridge Chamber of Commerce is hosting its annual lighted Christmas Parade at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 8, in downtown Breckenridge. The event is free and open to the public. The theme for the parade this year is ‘What Christmas Means to Me.’ The chamber is asking all of those who participate in the parade to use light on their floats. Throwing of candy from floats will not be allowed. For more information regarding the event, contact the chamber at 254-559-2301.

Thursday, Dec. 9
Pancakes with Santa
The First United Methodist Church will be hosting Pancakes with Santa from 5:30–8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 9, at the FUMC Community Life Center. Tickets for the event will be $10 for adults and $5 for children 10 and under. Tickets can be purchased at the door and all proceeds will benefit the Breckenridge High School Class of 2030.
BJHS, BHS Christmas Band Concert
Breckenridge Junior High School and Breckenridge High School will be performing their Christmas Band Concert from 6:30–9 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 9, at Bailey Auditorium in Breckenridge High School. The sixth grade band will begin the performance and the BHS band will conclude the performance. The event will be free to attend.

Saturday, Dec. 11
SHINE Concert
The musical group SHINE will be returning to Breckenridge to celebrate Christmas and close off 2021. The event will be held at 7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 11, at The National Theatre. SHINE is four musicians who share a love of acoustic music and will be playing bluegrass, country, swing and Christmas music during the event. Doors for the event will open at 6:30 p.m. and a meet and greet reception will be held with the artist following the performance. Tuesday, Dec. 14
South Elementary Christmas Play
The third grade class of South Elementary School will be presenting their Christmas play from 6-7 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 14, at South Elementary School. For more information, contact the campus at 254-559-6554.

Through Friday, Dec. 17
Stockings for Senior Citizens
Stephens Memorial Hospital is collecting stuffed stockings with goodies for the community home-delivered meal recipients and residents at Villa Haven Health & Rehab. Some items being asked for are: lap blankets, socks, hats, scarfs, gloves, non-perishable pre-packaged snacks, activity books, pens, lotions and body wash. The hospital will be collecting gifts until Friday, Dec. 17. Items can be dropped off at the hospital from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
