Buckaroos to participate in state 7on7 tournament this week

The future of Breckenridge football will be on display this week in College Station. Breckenridge Buckaroos’ football will participate in the state 7on7 football tournament at Veterans Park and Athletic Complex.

Pool play begins tomorrow with games at 1:45 p.m., 2:30 p.m. and 4 p.m. Bracket play will be Saturday at 8:45 a.m.

The Buckaroos earned their third-ever trip to the state tournament by winning the Ponder 7on7 Tournament at Northwest High School in Justin. The Buckaroos participate in Division II, which consists of 3A-Division I through 4A schools and private schools not in TAPPS Division I.

The other schools competing in the Division II state tournament are Cameron Yoe, China Spring, Hitchcock, Hamshire-Fannett, Celina, Fort Bend Christian, Columbus, Anna, Texarkana Pleasant Grove, Brownwood, Lindale, Silsbee, Smithville, Graham, Dumas, Sealy, Lorena, West Orange-Stark, Bay City, Pleasanton, Hereford, Wichita Falls, Ponder, San Antonio Davenport, Goliad, Tuscola Jim Ned, Clyde, Lago Vista, Rockdale, Kaufman and.Sunnyvale.

The 2022 Buckaroos 7on7 team consists of Dylan Baker, Brylie Bernal, Braye Cantrell, Camden Escalon, AJ Franco, Alexis Franco, Johnny Guillan, Jerry Lawson, Chase Lehr, Isaiah Lehr, Adler Loftis, Caiden Marin, Tim Newell, Anson Rodgers, Antley Rodgers, Adrian Ruiz, Chance Stewart and Sawyer Wimberley.
