The Breckenridge Chamber of Commerce shared an update last week that the Johnny Bates Memorial Scholarship Golf Tournament, originally scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 27, is being postponed until the spring of next year.

“We are making this change in hopes of encouraging greater participation from both teams and sponsors,” the Chamber said in a Facebook update Friday, Sept. 5. “The scholarships awarded through this tournament will still go to 2026 BISD graduates, just as they always have.”

The 18-hole scramble occurs at the Breckenridge Country Club and helps raise funds for that year’s graduating class. The event also includes a $10,000 hole-in-one contest.

A new date will be announced by the Chamber soon, which they have tentatively set for the third weekend in March of 2026.

The post concluded, “Thank you for your continued support as we work to make this event bigger and better than ever in honor of Johnny Bates.”
