The Breckenridge City Commissioners approved an ordinance for holding the Mayor and City Commissioners for Place 1 and 2 elections for Tuesday, November 3. Those positions on the ballots will join federal and state campaigns for the general election.

The approval was voted on during the Tuesday, July 7 city commissioners meeting at the Breckenridge City Offices Commission Chambers.

The city of Breckenridge will have three positions on the ballot, one of which is Mayor held by Bob Sims. The other two city commission positions are Place 1, held by Russell Blue and Place 2, held by Rob Durham.

As filing has ended, Sims, Blue, and Durham have filed for re-election for Mayor and City Commission Place 1 and 2.

The City Commission will meet in a special session on Friday, November 13 to canvass the returns of the election to declare the election results.

The City of Breckenridge entered into a leasing agreement with the Breckenridge Little League Baseball Inc. and the Breckenridge Girls Softball Association for all the property north of Little League Road.

The agreement includes a portion of a 16.72-acre tract out of the east 1/2 of the northwest 1/4 of Section 4 in Stephens County.

In lieu of rental payment, the lessees will be responsible for maintenance on the property including mowing, maintaining, and cleaning the land. The lessees will also ensure restrooms are cleaned and stocked with supplies.

The agreement takes effect immediately for a term of 10 years. The lease allows for an additional field or facility to be constructed on the premises.

A resolution by the City Commissioner was approved with the Texas Department of Transportation for the Breckenridge Independent School District Homecoming Parade.

The parade is expected to occur on Wednesday, October 14, and allows for a temporary closure of State Highway 180 for the event.
