The Stephens County Commissioners discussed numerous items during the regular scheduled meeting held on Jan. 13, including honoring Ron White, a retiring postal service employee, the lifting of the outside burning ban, and details on the hazard mitigation plan.

A resolution was accepted celebrating White, a U.S. Postal Service employee who recently retired. White holds the record for most votes by the community as favorite postal service employee. The commissioners honored White for his 35 years of dedicated service to Stephens County. The resolution thanked White for his service and “for going above and beyond the call of duty.”

Among topics discussed was County Judge Michael Roach’s decision to lift the outside burning ban within the county. With the stipulation that anyone intending to plan and execute any type of outside burning contact Stephens County Cooperative Dispatch at 254-559-6242.
