In our Dec. 19 edition of the Breckenridge American, our story about last week’s double homicide had two factual errors.

The first one incorrectly stated the Texas Rangers were called in to assist with the arrest of Paxton at Boar’s Den. This was incorrect, as only police and the sheriff’s department were involved in the arrest. The Texas Rangers were called to help investigate.

The second error stated police arrived at the Sullivans’ residence and saw Paxton leaving. This was incorrect, as Mark Dempsey, Mitchel’s brother-inlaw, was the first to arrive at the house and saw Paxton. Dempsey was called by Terry’s brother, Kevin Simmons. Dempsey then went inside the house and called the police.

The story has been updated online with the correct information and the Breckenridge American is very sorry for the errors.
