The Breckenridge Chamber of Commerce will have a familiar face back at its helm.

Rhonda Rogers-Crawford was named as the organization’s interim Executive Director, according to an email from President Johnathan Newton sent Monday afternoon.

Crawford previously served in the Executive Director role from 2016 to 2018, when she left to manage the finances of EMCO Oil Services.

“Crawford brings a wealth of experience to this position, having been the Executive Director in the past. The Board is very confident that Rhonda is the right person to serve in this capacity as we continue implementing our transition plan to find a permanent executive staff leader,” the email stated.

Crawford said she was originally hired as the finance coordinator under Breckenridge Become, the strategic alignment between the Breckenridge Economic Development Corporation, Breckenridge Chamber of Commerce, Industrial Foundation, and Improvement Council.

“After Colton (Buckley) left, (...) it was easiest for me to sit down (in the position), just because I’ve done this before,” she said.

Crawford said the board is still looking for a permanent Executive Director.

“They’ve got some strong candidates. But I am just kind of (...) trying to create the space for them to find the most effective and sustainable replacement,” she said.

The interim executive director said she wasted no time lining out details and preparing for the upcoming events the chamber will host.

“(I) immediately sat down and started helping with Sips of Summer, which Rachelle (Walters) is still here, and she’s fabulous. So she and I have partnered up immediately to start nailing down the details for the Sips of Summer,” Crawford said. “And then, you know, we’ll go ahead and start talking about golf, just to make sure that that event is planning.”

Sips of Summer will be held from 7 to 9:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 12 at Chandelier Ridge Wedding and Event Venue in Breckenridge. The annual Scholarship Golf Tournament will be held Saturday, Sept. 10 at the Breckenridge Country Club. More details on both events are expected to be released soon.

The search for a replacement was necessitated by the resignation of former Executive Director Colton Buckley, which was announced Saturday, June 4 Buckley served in the position for less than one year, but implemented positive changes for the organizations and community he served.
