Early voting will continue through Tuesday next week before election day kicks off Saturday in Breckenridge.
Early voting for the city of Breckenridge election is being held at City Hall located at 105 N. Rose Ave. City residents who are registered to vote in Stephens County are eligible to vote in the election.
Voting kicked off this week at City Hall and runs from from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. April 22-24 and April 27-28. On the ballot are elections for Mayor as well as Commissioner Place 1 and Place 2.
Early voting in the Breckenridge ISD election is being held at the BISD Administration Office at 209 N. Miller St. Stephens County registered voters who live within the school district are eligible to vote in the election.
Voting kicked off this week at the BISD Administration Office and is being held from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. April 22-24 and April 27-28. On the BISD ballot will be BISD Board of Trustee Place 3, Place 4, Place 6 and Place 7.
Election day voting will be held in conjunction with the city and BISD at one location. Election day voting will be held from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday, May 2 at the BISD Athletics and Fine Arts Facility located at 607 W. Second St.
The last day to register to vote was Thursday, April 2 and the last day to apply for a ballot by mail was Monday, April 20.

Candidates across Stephens County filed for a place on the ballot in May. The filing period was open from Wednesday, Jan. 14 through Friday, Feb. 13. The last day to file a declaration of write-in candidacy was Tuesday, Feb. 17.
The Stephens Memorial Hospital Board voted to cancel its election after only the incumbents filed for the election. Candidates who filed for reelection were Wade Toombs, Todd Tidwell, Bruce Curry and Kevin Simmons.

Four candidates filed for the position of mayor which were Bob Sims, who filed for reelection, along with candidates Paul Huntington Jr., Brent Ensey and Kord Trammel. Huntington Jr. serves as the Place 4 commissioner and, if elected, would vacate his seat.
Blake Hamilton filed for reelection to his Place 1 seat on the commission along with candidate John Green.
Current Place 2 Commissioner Greg Akers did not file for reelection. Justin Rose was the sole candidate to file for that position.

Breckenridge ISD
Breckenridge ISD has four school board positions up for election in May, with only one seat having contested candidates. Paul Lippe filed for reelection to the Place 4 seat along with candidates Leslie Hamilton, Tonya Wright-Taylor and Kenneth Taylor.
The Place 3, 6 and 7 had only the incumbents file for reelection to their positions. Those incumbents are Ty Bartoskewitz (Place 3), Nic McClymond (Place 6) and Chad Townson (Place 7).
