The children attending East Elementary shared in preparing for a challenging holiday season. A letter was sent home by the school staff to parents about a can good food drive.
With the help of East Elementary parents, the school collected an abundance of food that will go towards feeding families this holiday.
“We are thankful that so many are pitching in to help this year, Tammy McGrady, East Elementary counselor said. “East Elementary has had a canned food drive for the past two weeks. The generosity has been overwhelming, and we would like to show Breckenridge just how thoughtful they are to our community and how we can come together to help our families. Our slogan for November is Live to Give.
With so much food, the school library has served as the destination for the can goods. As the shelves overflowed, East Elementary staff are working together to create more room for the abundance of food.
The class that donates the most can goods will win a pizza party.
