Huntington named as new chamber ED

Wed, 10/05/2022 - 12:00 am

The Breckenridge Chamber of Commerce announced last week via email that Yuri Huntington had been hired as their new Executive Director. The announcement was made by Rhonda Rogers-Crawford, who has been serving in the interim role since July.

“I personally have known Mrs. Huntington for several years as a fellow Rotarian and active Breckenridge volunteer,” Crawford wrote. “Yuri (Pronounced like Judy, but with a “Y”) holds both a Master’s degree and Bachelor’s degree. Many locals may have crossed paths with Yuri while she was working for Betty Hardwick, The Open Door, or as the Youth Director of New Life Restoration Church.”

Huntington moved to Breckenridge in 2013 and as been an active member of the community ever since.

Huntington said she is excited to begin to serve the community and is ready to hear members’ ideas.

“Honestly, I want to know what it is that the members, that are here now, I want to talk to them. I want to hear them say, ‘I really liked when we did this, I would do less of this,’ and gauge that and hear everybody out. And there’s several members, so it’ll be a process, but what I want to do is do a mass email and have a couple of questions and just answer them as best as they can. Just so that I can get a feel,” she said.

The new executive director is also ready to help out businesses in the community.

“I am a business owner, myself, and my husband also owns his business.(...) For me as a member of the chamber, and having my own business, what I would want as a business would be help, and promotion and marketing, and ideas and things like that,” Huntington said. “So for me as a person that owns a business being a member, I kind of have those eyes and know kind of what I would want to do for my members as the (executive director).”

Crawford also announced she would be joining the board as Incoming President.

A meet and greet with Huntington is being hosted from 2 to 4 p.m. today, Wednesday, Oct. 5 at the chamber office.
