Last day to register to vote upcoming

With the November General Election upcoming, Stephens County has released dates for the last day to register to vote and dates for the start of early voting.

The final date to register to vote will be Monday, October 5, as early voting will begin on Tuesday, October 13 through Friday, October 16 for the first week of voting.

On the ballot will be key positions important to Stephens County residents including; Presidential Election, United States Senator for Texas, District 11 for the House of Representative, Stephens County Sheriff, City Commissioner for Place 2.

The second week’s dates for early voting will be Monday, October 19 through Friday, October 23.

The final week of early voting will be from Monday, October 26 through Friday, October 30.

Each week of early voting will begin at 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. each day. Since this year’s election is a joint election with the City of Breckenridge, Stephens County is required to allow two 12 hour days of voting. Those days will be:

Wednesday, October 28 from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m

Thursday, October 29 from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m.

The last day to receive an application (not postmarked) for a Ballot By Mail is Friday, October 23, at 4 p.m.

Please note, there are significant changes to the Ballot By Mail procedures for this upcoming election. For this election, a voter will be allowed to return their ballot in person to the Early Voting Clerk, the Tax Assessor’s office.

The voter must return the ballot themselves it may not be delivered by another person. The voter must show a government-issued photo identification and must sign an affidavit upon returning the ballot by mail.
