Ron White was in the first grade when his teacher asked him to collect the mail for the school. Along with another student, White would walk about four blocks to the mailroom to gather those documents.

With a pleasant experience from the postmaster, White recalls being fond of his carrier duties even at a young age.

At the Jan. 13 County Commissioner meeting, Ron White was honored for his 35 years of service to the Breckenridge community. As a U.S. Postal Service employee, White has been voted the most liked carrier for a record number of years.

White has been working since the age of five. He begins working in the cotton fields to help support his family. Along with a host of brothers and sisters, the siblings would work and put their earnings together so the family could survive.

White learned at a young age, that the road to success was paved with diligence.

“The most memorable thing to me is taking care of the customers, for six or seven years I was a T6, which means I was on a different route every day,” White said. “Five days a week I was on a different route, I got to meet a lot of people and I always enjoyed visiting with them, delivering the mail and taking care of the customer.”
