Meals on Wheels program needing volunteers

Tue, 06/15/2021 - 8:52 am

The Meals on Wheels program in Breckenridge is in need of volunteers to help deliver meals to senior citizens who are homebound.

Currently, there are 18 volunteers to deliver 75 meals to seniors weekly, on Tuesday and Thursday.

The meals are put together at the Stephens Memorial Hospital kitchen and then picked up and distributed to the senior citizens.

Peggy Holder is in charge of the program and has the deliveries set up for five routes.

Since the closing of the Senior Citizens Center, Stephens Memorial Hospital has taken over the delivery of meals on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Different organizations, such as Rotary Club or Lions Club, have also volunteered for a month at a time.

For more information or for those interested in volunteering, contact Holder at 254-559-3388.
