New Vision held a hiring event this week on Wednesday and had over 100 applicants and 60 interviews. They are hoping to hire approximately 50 people, which company officials feel comfortable in accomplishing. But with the hiring event past, the company looks to prepare for launch.

Plant Manager Andy Nauert said he was satisfied with the turnout and the hiring day went better than he expected.

“I think it went great,” Nauert said. “It really did. I was pleasantly surprised.”

Nauert said of the 50 spots, they have decided on 43 of them. He clarified this does not mean they have 43 people hired, but the instant they begin the actual hiring process they will be receiving a call. He added those who they are wanting to hire are aware of the situation.

Virgil Moore, executive director of the Breckenridge Economic Development Corporation, said the applicants had a lot of good experience in the field due to the history of Breckenridge and manufacturing.

Now with the hiring event past them, Nauert said they look to the future and are hoping to begin work soon. While the initial goal was to have work begin Oct. 1, Nauert acknowledged that may be a little optimistic. He said the realistic goal would be to start anywhere between Oct. 1 and Oct. 15.

Though, the goal itself may not be a straight line. Due to the nature of the industry, specifically in house manufacturing, Nauert said there is typically an order these things are developed.

“We kind of have to do this in stages,” Nauert said. “First we build the frame, then we build floors, then we do plumbing. It’s like an assembly line, we have to build from the back.”

This means while some parts of work may be available right now, certain work may have to wait initially. Nauert said there are approximately 12 departments and when they start they will try to fill the first three immediately. Those first three departments though, will not require all 50 workers, creating a progression of work over time rather than all at once.

New Vision will specialize in oil field units to start and should last them a few months, Nauert said. After that finishes, he said they may shift to tiny houses, or more oil field units depending on the orders that come in. He added these were there top two priorities, and after these they may dabble in HUD (Housing and Urban Development) housing.

“We would love to build nothing but oil units and tiny houses,” Nauert said. “But nowadays, if you don’t diversify a little bit, then any little hiccup and you’re in trouble. So we like to be set up and capable of building several different products.”
