Permitless carry bill heads to Gov. Abbott for state approval

Texas is set to become the 21st state to allow the lawful carry of a handgun, concealed or openly, without a license after the Senate and House approved the measure in the 87th Legislative Session.

House Bill 1927 was approved by the House Sunday, May 23, and approved by the Senate Monday, May 24. The bill was sent to the office of Texas Gov. Greg Abbott who stated he will sign off on the bill making it a law in the state. A final draft was negotiated with the house which made three changes to the bill approved by the Senate.
