Rustic Charm celebrates 10 years in business

Tue, 06/22/2021 - 9:41 am

Rustic Charm Trading Co. recently celebrated its 10-year anniversary of doing business in Breckenridge. Throughout the years, the store has had to re-purpose or re-invent itself more than once.

Stephanie (Wylie) Asher and her father, Steve Wylie, began this enterprise with rustic items that caught their eye. They were joined by her mother on these scavenging trips on her days off from her job as a nurse at Eastland Memorial Hospital.

Asher began experimenting with candle-making in 2002, first in her kitchen, then the garage and finally at her store. In addition to antiques, the store started to sell her candles, which appeared to equate as a part-time hobby, or so it seemed. While at a trade show in Atlanta, Ga., her candles caught the eye of Cavender’s, one of the country’s top western wear retailers.
