The Stephens County Sheriff’s Office responded to a police chase on Sunday, June 28 after the Shackelford County Sheriff’s Office received a 9-1-1 call about a reckless driver heading into Stephens County.

Located at a local market, a deputy of Shackelford County attempted to make contact with the driver. The driver of the vehicle fled the parking lot entering the roadway of U.S. 180, and led law enforcement on a police chase, according to the Shackelford County Sheriff’s Office.

Along with a deputy, the Sheriff of Shackelford County Edward Miller, and Shackelford County’s Game Warden, a chase ensued and the suspect entered into Stephens County.

With speeds reaching nearly 90 mph during the pursuit, the stop sticks were deployed twice on the east side of the Hubbard Creek Bridge by Stephens County Sheriffs Office.

The stop sticks were able to halt the reckless driver’s vehicle and effectively ending the police chase near the Hubbard Creek Bridge.

The investigation into the matter is ongoing.
