The Breckenridge ISD held a community involvement meeting for the search of a new superintendent during their School Board meeting on Monday, Jan. 13. During the meeting, the Texas Association of School Boards (TASB) sent representative Rick Howard to discuss the leadership qualities desired by the community for a new superintendent.

The Superintendent Community Input questionnaire was given to staff members and citizens to fill out at the event. The questionnaire is currently active on the Breckenridge ISD website, under Our District and School Board Web Page. The questionnaire will be removed on Jan. 25 at midnight and will be electronically submitted to the school board on Tuesday, Jan. 28.

This is the first meeting since TASB/ESS met with the board to discuss the BISD superintendent search schedule. At that meeting, the school board agreed to set a tentative timeline for the search of a new superintendent.
The deadline to apply for the open position was set as Feb. 18.

At a following meeting each board member will select 6-10 of their favorite candidates to be listed out. As a board, they will narrow the list down to 6-8 candidates to bring in for interviews.

The tentative date for the first round of interviews for the new superintendent will be conducted in the first week of March. The board members will select 3-4 candidates to advance to the second round of interviews. Those interviews are scheduled to conclude at the end of March 2020. A candidate of choice will be selected on the last day of interviews, that finalist will be chosen on April 1. The school board will vote to elect the new Superintendent of BISD on April 23.

BISD and the school board has stated that they would like to continue to have community input throughout the process.
