Calls for service include but are not limited to: 911 calls, non-emergency calls, registering sex offenders, working traffic accidents, serving civil papers, transporting prisoners and juveniles in and out of the county, mental hospital transports, court security, some proactive calls, etc.

Jan. 2

A report of criminal mischief was made by county employees who found a broken window at the Stephens County Courthouse. It appears that someone shot a BB gun, and the BB broke the window.

Jan. 3

A deputy arrested a 50-year-old woman for a theft of property warrant out of Red Oak, Texas. The arrest occurred at the Stephens County Jail, where the female arrived to visit an inmate. Upon giving her identification to the jail staff, it was discovered that she was wanted.

Jan. 4

A deputy served a felony arrest warrant for burglary of a habitation on a 23-year-old woman after we transported her from Taylor County Jail to Stephens County Jail. This arrest warrant stemmed from a burglary in the county in the summer of 2018 that the Sheriff’s Office solved.

A report of a terroristic threat was made to a deputy in the lobby of the Sheriff’s Office. The victim received electronic messages threatening harm to him from a known suspect.

Jan. 5

A deputy issued a criminal trespass warning to a 57-year-old man for an address on FM 207, due to the man being a suspect in an assault case. An assault report was also made and then investigated by the deputy and a Texas Game Warden. As a result, a felony arrest was made on the man for assaulting a person over the age of 65.

A deputy responded to an unattended death at a hunting camp on CR 187. A 38-year-old man from another town was reported to have passed away in his sleep. The Justice of the Peace ordered an autopsy, which is standard procedure for this type of incident.
