The Stephens County Sheriff's Office has arrested a Fort Worth man due to a suspected assault of an elderly man, according to a complaint filed.

Delvin Eugene Aaron, 57 of Fort Worth, Texas was arrested by Deputy Wayne McMullin on Jan. 5 in connection with a complaint filed regarding the assault of an elderly person. The arrest stems from an altercation between Aaron and the elderly man, in reference to the latter’s grandchildren riding four-wheelers near a line of fence that connects the two properties.

Aaron addressed the youths and told them he would appreciate if they would not ride those since he was hunting on the adjacent property. Some time later the elderly man went out on the four-wheeler to meet with Aaron to see what the issue was.

At the time of the encounter, Aaron was on the man’s property and became enraged and aggressive toward the man, when he was asked why he was on the property without permission. Aaron struck the man several times. The incident was investigated by the Sheriff's Office with assistance from Game Warden Cliff Westbrook. Having found sufficient evidence, Aaron was arrested and booked into the Stephens County Jail without incident. His bond is set at $7,500. Aaron has no previous arrest or convictions.

CORRECTION: In our original story, we stated in the headline a Stephens County Court was reviewing the case. We also wrote in the opening sentence "The Magistrate Court has arrested a Fort Worth man." Both of these statements were inaccurate, as the court does not review the case. The Justice of the Peace Court sets a bond at a magistrate hearing. And courts do not make arrests, but law enforcement does. In this case, it was the Stephens County Sheriff's Office that made the arrest. Both have been corrected in the story and the Breckenridge American apologizes for the errors.
