The Pure Country Pedal, an annual bike ride in memory of Sloan Everett, will be held this Saturday, Nov. 5 at Breckenridge City Park. Everett is a local cowboy who lost his life protecting cattle during a wildfire in the Texas panhandle.

The annual bike ride was initiated in 2017 by Kyle Fambro and hosted by the Breckenridge Chamber of Commerce. In 2019, Sloan Everett’s family created a fundraiser to go along with the bike ride that directly benefits the Caddo, Hubbard Creek, and Wayland Volunteer Fire Departments in Stephens County. To date, over $23,000 has been donated.

There are five different routes to choose from, ranging from four miles to 59 miles. Entry fees are $40 for riders 18 years and older, $25 for riders ages 13-17 years old, and free for rid- ers 12 years old or under. Each entry fee includes an event t-shirt and post-ride meal. For those wishing to join the meal, but not ride, meal tickets will be available the day of the ride.

Participants will begin lining up at 8 a.m., with the ride beginning at 8:30 a.m. Live music will be provided by The Urban Pioneers and Kyle Fambro.

Registration, route maps and more information is available at www.purecountrypedal.com.
