An online survey is available through the end of May seeking community input to help guide the future of Stephens Memorial Hospital.

The 14-question online survey is available at surveymonkey.com/r/FJCJTVY until Saturday, May 30. The survey is looking for feedback on the hospital’s services, facilities and operations as well as recommendations for future improvements and endeavors.

“We want to hear from as many members of our community as possible, even if they’re not current patients of our hospital or clinic,” said Gena Speer, CEO, Stephens Memorial Hospital. “Stephens Memorial Hospital is everyone’s hospital, and this citizens’ survey is intended to harvest broad perspectives so that we can do more for more of our community.”

The community survey is following one that was conducted earlier this year by the hospital to receive feedback from community leaders. Both surveys are part of HealthConnect, in which the hospital is working with a third-party research and planning organization to strengthen the connection with the community.

“Stephens Memorial Hospital has served our community since 1951, and we have added services and programs as our region has grown,” Speer said. “With community feedback, we can continue that growth, guided by what our community needs and values.”

HealthConnect is supported with grant funding from Texas Mutual Insurance Company.
“The organization works with rural Texas hospitals to strengthen their operations and resilience to ensure they can continue to serve their communities through a vibrant and robust healthcare delivery system,” SMH said in a release.

All community members can take the survey, which will be anonymous and used for community engagement and investment.

The questions on the survey ask if the respondent is a hospital staff or board member, community leader or community member. Respondents can choose which community hospital they use, with options for SMH, Haskell Memorial Hospital and Castro County Hospital District.

Respondents can rank how they receive news coverage of the hospital and how they feel regarding the social media presence of the hospital, the social media platforms they believe the hospital is a part of and how positive they feel discussions are on social media regarding SMH.

The survey has a list of key community members and respondents can rank how they feel about those individuals being advocates for the hospital and they can also say how much they advocate for SMH.

Respondents can say if they feel the CEO is an excellent leader, if the hospital is in a position to serve the community and if they are proud to have the hospital.

The final two questions ask the respondent if they agree that the hospital positively contributes to the community beyond healthcare and to describe the relationship between the community and the hospital.
