Chris Curtis, Director of Business Development for Stephens Memorial Hospital, announced the arrival of the new Chief Executive Officer/Administration for SMH, Brian Roland.
Roland has 29 years steeped full of experience in the healthcare field and has much experience working in both small and large medical facilities, which gives him a unique insight into the healthcare challenges of a small rural hospital and its operation.
Roland began his career as a Business Services Director at HCA in Terrell, Texas. After that stint, Roland was at the Western Plains Medical Complex LIFEPOINT in Dodge City, Kans. before trying his hand as a CEO/CFO at Mangum Community Hospital in Magnum, Okla. After that, he served at a LIFEPOINT Facility in Livingston, Tenn.
Roland sharpened his financial skills as Financial Affairs Manager at the University of Texas Medical Center, in Dallas, before going back into hospital administration. He served stints at Minneola District Hospital, in Minneola, Kans. and then Parkland Health and Hospital System in Dallas, where he served as COPC Site Administrator for two large facilities in the Parkland System. They included Hamlin Memorial Hospital and Hamilton Healthcare System.
Most recently, Roland served at Muenster Memorial Hospital in Muenster, which includes a hospital, Rural Health Clinic, a Speciality Clinic and a retail Pharmacy.
Roland has served on numerous healthcare organizations, including the Texas Organization of Rural and Community Hospitals, the Texas Hospital Association, Rural Hospital Constituency Council and the Texas Hospital Assoc. Endorsed Partner Advisory Committee and HOTComp.
Roland is a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives, the Healthcare Compliance Assoc., the Healthcare Financial Management Assoc. and the National Rural Healthcare Assoc.
