Stephens County will have several elections upcoming regarding the county.
On the ballot for the 2020 primaries will be elections for County Commissioner of precinct 1 and 3, Sheriff, Constable, Tax Assessor, County Attorney, and Stephen County Republican Chair.
The most popular election will be the race for County Commissioner of precinct 1. Seven candidates have given their names for consideration for the 2020 primaries. Malcolm Bufkin Sr, Monte W. McIntire, William Harper, David W. Fambro, Chad Ezell, Ricky Edwards, Jimmie Cantrell Jr. will all be on the ballots on March 3. The current County Commissioner of Precinct 1 John “Ed” Russell decided last year that he would not seek reelection for his third term.
The race for County Commissioner of precinct 3 will not see any competition for incumbent William H. Warren’s seat. He is running unopposed in the election and will represent Precinct 3 as the County Commissioner for the next four years.
The contest for Sheriff of Stephen County will feature a head-to-head bout between Kathy Marcom and Kevin Roach. The Sheriff serves a four-year term and is the executive officer of the county and district courts.
The competition for County Constable will see a change as from Adam Babilon to Robert McMullen, who will run unopposed. McMullen will be the new Stephens County Constable.
