The 90th Judicial District Court in the Stephens County Courthouse had two plea deals last week, with both pleading guilty. One received 40 years in prison on four felony charges, while the other received 15 years on a state jail felony, according to court records.

Hector Puebla and Ben Carlos Acosta both pled guilty in their respective cases last week. Trial was being set up for both, but Acosta pled guilty Friday morning and Puebla later that same afternoon. The cases were not related.

Acosta received 40 years for an incident dating back to November 2017, where he was involved in a stabbing that injured four people, including a police officer. The stabbing involved his then-girlfriend, as well as three people Acosta did not know.

The charge consisted of four felony charges, including three aggravated assaults with a deadly weapon, which is a second degree felony, and one assault against a public servant, which is a third degree felony.

In the other case, Puebla pled guilty to one felony charge of burglary of a building dating back to February 2016 and will receive 15 years, which was enhanced. The reason for the enhanced charge was unknown to the Breckenridge American at the time of publication.
