White’s leave lasting impression on FUMC

Over four decades of music came to a close with the retirement of Wayne and Guyla White from First United Methodist Church on Sunday, June 27. The couple has led music for the church for 41 years.

Wayne was the Music Director for FUMC, but it was always a team effort with both him and his wife involved in presenting the music each Sunday. The couple also sang at community functions.

On April 16, 1962, Wayne was a part of the Breckenridge Boys Choir, under director Gwen Dean, that visited the White House and sang during First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy’s Musical Programs for Youth by Youth. The choir was joined by the Greater Boston Youth Symphony Orchestra. President John F. Kennedy spoke at the event.
