Fri, 12/07/2018 - 2:00 pm

A study found that during the holiday season, drivers across the U.S. get 175 percent more aggressive, according to GasBuddy. The study also said of the states, Texas ranks third in aggressive driving during this time of year.

This increase, according to the study, is due to various aggressive habits being more prominent during this time of year. This includes quick accelerating, hard braking and speeding. The study, broken down further, found that this aggressive behavior is more prominent at the beginning of the season, meaning people are more likely to be aggressive on their commute to their holiday destination as opposed to when they are returning home.

Other things found include Georgia and California being ranked first and second, respectively, and Louisiana and South Carolina ranking fourth and fifth, respectively. The least aggressive states are Hawaii, Alaska, Washington D.C., Montana and Vermont. Of the three "aggressive" events, which are hard braking, speeding and acceleration, the study found hard braking to be the most common event, being 56 percent of all aggressive happenings. Speeding was 25 percent of events and acceleration was 19 percent.

The study’s data was gathered from GasBuddy’s Drives, which is a feature that provides motorists with an assessment of their driving habits.
