United Fund working to hit donations goal

The Breckenridge United Fund continues to collect donations to increase the amount donated in Stephens County to 78% of the goal of $18,000.

Considering the COVID environment, the United Fund is very pleased and thankful for the donations that have been made to keep local activities going. United Fund wishes to thank Kevin Simmons and the staff of First National Bank, who have made a real commitment to contribute 100% for the sixth year in a row. This year, that amounted to $2,412.

There are still five more months in the campaign and members of the local group are still working to meet or exceed the goal set for this year of $18,000.

The employees of United Supermarket continue to contribute through their payroll deductions which are averaging about $140 per month through their payroll deduction system.

The money stays in Stephens County to support local non-profit organizations such as Swenson Memorial Museum, Meals-on-Wheels, Breckenridge Library, Breckenridge Fine Arts Center, Friends of Historic Breckenridge, SHAC School Health Advisory Committee, Cub Scout/Boy Scout Troop 63, Girl Scout Troop 8356, Little Dribblers, Little League Baseball and Girl’s Softball, Stephen’s County Dr. Goodall’s House, Stephens County Agricultural Center, the Stephens County Child/ Foster Welfare Board, the Stephens County Agriculture and Community Center and the Open Door.

The United Fund Board appreciates the community’s continued support and help to reach its goal that will continue to support local organizations in Stephens County.

Kevin Simmons of FNB serves as the treasurer and Sherry Strickland serves as president. Additional members include Les Strickland, Sharon Wimberley, Sandy Broyles, Wayne and Lynda Justice, Whitney Fulgham, Scott Harris, Cassie Griffith, Kathy O’Shields, Bo Asher, Gary Trammel and Jean Hayworth.
