The West Central Texas Municipal Water District announced the closure of two ramps at Hubbard Creek Reservoir. Due to dropping water levels, the district announced the closures of Peeler’s Pier and Corley Ramp in a press release sent Friday, March 15.
According to the release, the Hubbard Creek Reservoir water level was at 1,171.27 feet.
The ramp at Paul Prater Landing near the dam is expected to remain open. Ramp closures due to the water level have not been a common occurrence.
“The last time the District had to close boat ramps (was) 2012,” District General Manager Chris Wingert wrote. “The ramps were subsequently reopened in 2016 after record inflow filled the reservoir.”
The district warns those using watercraft on the water to use caution.
“There are many submerged boating hazards, so it is very important that each operator familiarize themselves with the changing underwater conditions”, Wingert said.
There is no timetable for reopening the closed ramps.
The district owns and maintains four public boat ramps on the reservoir: Bob Clark Landing, Corley Ramp, Peeler’s Pier and Paul Prater Landing. Bob Clark and Paul Prater Landings remain open.
