Weather forecast tomorrow calls for rain, snow, heavy wind

Wed, 12/12/2018 - 7:11 pm

The city of Breckenridge and Stephens County will be under a winter weather watch from Thursday afternoon until Friday morning. The report calls for a high chance of precipitation and dropping temperatures, according to a national service warning.

The showers are expected to come in Thursday morning, and pick up throughout the day. Temperatures are projected to drop into the high 30s in the afternoon, with a feels like temperature of high 20s. These temperatures could mean a mix of rain and snow with some ice as the storms and showers will continue into the evening.

Heavy wind is expected to accompany these storms. It is due to this the burn ban has been put back into place after being taken off at the last County Commissioner meeting on Monday. The ban was initially lifted for one week until Dec. 18. Fire Chief Calvin Chaney announced the reinstatement of the ban on Tuesday.

The Breckenridge American will continue to update this story as the weather begins to come in. We advise all individuals to be cautious while driving and remain vigilant for icy conditions.
