Woodson hosting Independence Day event
The Woodson 4th of July Community Celebration will be held next Monday, July 4. The even will begin at 5 p.m. and end at 11 p.m. and will be held at the Woodson Community Center on FM 209 East.
Admission is free and there will be live music by “Jolie & Sonny,” “The Urban Pioneers,” Jamie Toleson, and the “Steve Helms Band & Fiddle Ben.”
This is a family event. Games will begin around 5:30 p.m. Catch your turtles and enter the turtle races Any decorations on the turtles should be safe for the turtles.
For a small fee, there will be a dunking booth and cow patty bingo. There will be minihorse pictures, and a remote control car race, which is $10 to enter, but participants can keep the car.
There will also be a free water balloon toss.
There will be a cornhole tournament from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Call Rick Reynolds at 512-294-6043 to register. There is a fee.
There will be burgers, snow cones, macaroni and cheese, ice cream, chips, and homemade desserts for sale.
There will also be freeze-dried food for sale, drinks, face painting, among other activities.
Of course, there will be fireworks. It promises to be quite a show.
All proceeds raised will benefit “Project Community Center.” Donations are welcome.
Come find a treasure or eat good food. Bring the family and lawn chairs to watch the fireworks.
