Woodson News: S-L-O-W D-O-W-N

I sat down at least three times this last week. I mean I sat at a time before I usually sit down at the end of the day, and I fall asleep on the couch and wake up later to find I that I slept through my favorite shows and it’s time to go to bed… Wake up and go to sleep! Too busy!

It was nice to be home a week, even if some of my poor students had to spend three mornings with me. They were successful mornings!

So, S-L-O-W D-O-W-N, and come celebrate our country! Bring your lawn chairs and head to Woodson for the 4th of July Community Celebration on July 4, from 5-11 PM. Gevin Beauchamp, Baylee Gray, Taylor Crook, Noah Leverton and Sam Mills all attended the three day Area FFA Leadership Camp in Brownwood, at the 4H campgrounds, last week.

Claire Ellis, Canon Redwine and Riggin Brents attended the District III, 4H Teen Leader Lab held at the church camp in Lueders, at the same time as the FFA camp.

4H Record Books are due by July 1, if you are participating, that should catch you up unless you’re headed to junior leader lab… Oh, and then there’s the one day Ten County Camp.

FFA members are gearing up for the State FFA Convention, July 11-15, 2022. It’s in FW this year. Myia Jackson and Claire Ellis will be competing in Prepared Public Speaking, Ella Hearne and Taylor Crook will serve as Ambassadors, Taylor Crook and Sam Mills will serve on Courtesy Corps. There will be voting, talent, scholarships, Lone Star Degrees…Go Woodson FFA!

The Farmers’ Market was open in downtown Woodson on Saturday and should be back again on Saturday at 9 AM! Stay tuned in on FB for Saturday updates! Cukes and okra and squash are all on their way! On Louise Owen’s porch and under the tree across from the fire department! Aside from okra and greens, everything is about $2 per pound. Come support the farmers! EAT MORE VEGETABLES!
