Breckenridge will receive $142,770 for local sales tax allocations

Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar announced he will send cities, counties, transit systems and special purpose taxing districts $783.2 million in local sales tax allocations for January, 2.6 percent more than in January 2020. These allocations are based on sales made in November by businesses that report tax monthly.

Since the runoff election in July, I have spent much time traveling across the district to meet with constituents, business and community leaders, and elected officials. A number of trips to Austin have been made to meet with my new staff, attend freshman Legislative orientation, and become familiarized with the Capitol complex.

Crude oil at its highest level in nearly a year

Texas gas prices have risen 6.2 cents per gallon in the past week, averaging $2.00/g today, according to GasBuddy’s daily survey of 13,114 stations. Gas prices in Texas are 15.2 cents per gallon higher than a month ago and stand 27.1 cents per gallon lower than a year ago.

Cemetery clean up program

Cemetery personnel will begin cleaning the Cemetery on Monday, Feb. 1. This is a semi-annual procedure to clean the Cemetery in preparation for the grass and flower season.

SC receives 100 doses of Moderna vaccine

On Jan. 6, the Breckenridge Medical Center, the rural health clinic, received 100 Moderna vaccines to be distributed by state guidelines in Phase 1A, which includes essential frontline healthcare workers and long-term care workers. This was also confirmed by Doug Smith, Interim CEO of Stephens Memorial Hospital.

SCJLS begins

The 2021 Stephens County Junior Livestock Show and Sale is scheduled to begin Thursday evening, Jan. 7 through Jan. 9, at the Stephens County Ag Center.
