Texas gas prices have fallen 0.8 cents per gallon in the past week, averaging $1.86/g today, according to GasBuddy’s daily survey of 13,114 stations. Gas prices in Texas are 0.7 cents per gallon higher than a month ago and stand 42.8 cents per gallon lower than a year ago.

The Sloan Everett Memorial Bike Ride was held at the Breckenridge City Park on Saturday, Oct. 17, and featured a host of bike riders to the memorial event. Despite the COVID-19 virus, the Breckenridge Chamber of Commerce moved forward with this year’s event and should be deemed a success.
There was a minor glitch in Stephens County’s poll pad software on Tuesday, October 13 due to a vendor error. The issue caused a 20-minute delay in the early voting process, but did not stop record numbers.
Stephens County has seen a dramatic increase in COVID-19 cases, as the Friday, October 16 case count hits 44 active cases. County officials are asking that citizens follow health and safety protocols.
The Stephens County Commissioners tabled the acceptance of a grant from the Center for Tech and Civic Life during the Tuesday, October 13 meeting inside the courthouse.

With election season here, Stephens County Election Administrator, Christie Latham provided an introduction of new safe, and secure voting equipment. The new equipment comes after a failed security assessment required a modernization of election equipment.
The Breckenridge Independent School District approved a resolution to end synchronous and asynchronous (remote learning) instruction for students. All students of BISD shall return to their designated campus for in-person instruction, no later than Monday, October 19.
