Gas update
Gasoline prices has fallen more than 3.5 cents this past week, as of Oct. 22, in Texas, according to GasBuddy. This brings the average price to $2.61 per gallon in Texas. This compares with the 4.7 cent decrease nationally, bringing national gas prices to $2.83 per gallon on average. Gas prices in Texas are 36.3 cents higher than they were this time last year, and 1.3 cents higher than this time last month. Nationally, prices are almost 40 cents higher than this time last year, but have fallen by 1.6 cents since last month.

Breckenridge man killed in two-vehicle accident

A Breckenridge man was killed in a two-car accident Wednesday morning, after road conditions caused one of the vehicles to lose control, according to officials.

Jon David Woody, 60, was killed when another car lost control and crashed into him. This caused Woody’s vehicle, which was a 2000 Peterbilt Truck towing a flatbed trailer, to go off the roadway and roll over. Woody was not wearing his seatbelt when the accident occurred and was ejected from the vehicle, according to an official report from the Texas Department of Public Safety.

Voters turnout in record-breaking numbers as early voting kicks off

The Stephens County Tax Office reported record-breaking turnout for the first two days of early voting yesterday, with 300 votes. The previous record was 269. This is also a trend in other parts of Texas and the country, as early voting across the state and U.S. are seeing increases from years prior.
