New Vision hosts hiring event, looking to begin work within the next month

New Vision held a hiring event this week on Wednesday and had over 100 applicants and 60 interviews. They are hoping to hire approximately 50 people, which company officials feel comfortable in accomplishing. But with the hiring event past, the company looks to prepare for launch.

Plant Manager Andy Nauert said he was satisfied with the turnout and the hiring day went better than he expected.

“I think it went great,” Nauert said. “It really did. I was pleasantly surprised.”

Board talks new band design, awards students of the month

Breckenridge ISD Board of Trustees met Monday, Sept. 10 and approved the new high school band uniforms, as well as acknowledged this year’s first students of the month. Along with a consent agenda, they approved to continue a partnership with GermBlast, a program that comes in and wipes down surfaces to eliminate germs to avoid the spreading of infections.

To open the meeting, four students were awarded “Student of the Month,” which amounted to one student at each of the three elementary schools and the middle school. The following students are:

Constitution Day celebrated in Breckenridge

On Constitution Day, Monday, Sept. 17, all Breckenridge ISD campuses have been invited to participate in the recognition of the 231st anniversary of the final signature being placed on the U.S. Constitution. At 3 p.m., the bells around Breckenridge and county-wide will be ringing to commemorate the occasion. The punily is invited to join the churches, BISD and others for the occasion.

TSTC awards five scholarships at luncheon

The Breckenridge campus of the Texas State Technical College hosted a scholarship luncheon for five recipients.

Presiding over the luncheon and the presentations was Debbie Karl, executive director of the Breckenridge campus of TSTC. TSTC staff had prepared the room and luncheon festivities under the direction of Debi Bufkin and other TSTC staff.

NewVision Manufacturing to hold two-day hiring event

NewVision Manufacturing is hosting a two-day hiring event from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Sept. 11 and 12 at their new headquarters at 820 Industrial Loop. Over 100 applications have been submitted and 60 interviews set up with the plan being to hire 45 to 50 people immediately.

Mayor Bob Sims was on hand to greet the management and welcome them to Breckenridge officially. Virgil Moore, the executive director of the Breckenridge Economic Development Corporation, welcomed all the guests and introduced the main players.
