Former Breckenridge band director arrested for solicitation of minor

A former Breckenridge ISD employee was arrested earlier this month after trying to meet a 13-year-old boy online, according to officials. The arrest was made in Dallas County.

James Cude, who was the Breckenridge Junior High and High School band director from 2000 to 2002, was arrested on Wednesday, Feb. 6 in connection with a joint task force that was comprised of both Dallas County law enforcement and federal investigators.

Breckenridge American burglarized

Breckenridge American's newsroom was ransacked and burglarized between Thursday night and Friday morning, Feb. 21-22.

An employee of the paper arrived Friday morning and discovered the scene. The Breckenridge Police Department was called shortly after. Included at the scene was debris, broken glass and missing items. The BPD began taking notes and gathering information after they arrived.

Boil water notice effective Feb. 20

A boil water notice for the 1000 and 1100 blocks of North Parks on the east side of the street was put into effect on Wednesday, Feb. 20, according to a release from the city.

Due to a water line break from construction, the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality has required the system to notify all customers within the specified block to boil their water for at least two minutes prior to consumption, according to the release.
