Rep. Jodey Arrington reached out to the Breckenridge American last week and offered comments and context on his first term and campaign. The story has been updated with comments from Arrington and some information has been updated or changed. The Breckenridge American is reposting the stories for both Arrington and his opponent Miguel Levario in anticipation for next week's election.

After over 20 months of campaigning, Miguel Levario said he is ready to try and be the first Democrat elected to represent U.S. Congressional District 19 since 1979.

Born and raised in El Paso, Texas, Levario said he has always been an activist in his community. A professor at Texas Tech University since 2007, Levario has a doctorate from the University of Texas at Austin. Prior to this, he attended schooling at the University of Notre Dame and Stanford University.

The Breckenridge ISD school board met Monday, Oct. 15 and announced the students of the month for October. They also approved $37,000 worth of improvements to the Ag farm and received a presentation from students in the Gifted and Talented Program. To close up, they recieved comment from a parent in the district.

Gas

Gas prices this week fell 1.2 cents per gallon as of Oct. 15, bringing prices to $2.65 per gallon in Texas, according to a GasBuddy survey. Nationally, prices fell 2.6 cents per gallon, bringing the national average to $2.88 per gallon. Compared with this time last year, gas prices are 36 cents higher in Texas. Nationally, gas prices are 42.5 cents higher than this time last year, according to GasBuddy’s press release.
