Wind farm hearing set for Monday

Stephens County community members will have the opportunity to have their questions heard from representatives of NextEra Energy Resources regarding a proposed wind farm in the county. A public hearing will be held during the next Stephens County Commissioner’s Court meeting scheduled for 9 a.m.

TEA delays A-F ratings

The Texas Education Agency (TEA) announced last week a delay in the release of 2023 A-F accountability ratings. According to a TEA press release, the postponement of ratings for approximately one month will allow for a further re-examination of the baseline data used in the calculation of progress to ensure ratings reflect the most appropriate goals for students.

Paxton acquitted

Paxton acquitted on all counts

Ken Paxton has been reinstated as Texas Attorney General after the Texas Senate on Saturday acquitted him of charges of bribery and misuse of office. Only two Republican senators joined the 12 Democrats in voting to convict him of some of the 16 charges heard by the Senate, with four other charges dismissed by the Senate, The Dallas Morning News reported.

BISD receives facility report

Breckenridge ISD trustees are looking at the future of the district regarding its facilities. The trustees held a public workshop session Wednesday, Sept. 6 where Texas Association of Schools Boards Regional Manager Clint Alsobrook went over his findings from a walk-through of campus facilities earlier this year.

City approves playground equipment, canopy purchase

New playground equipment is on the way at the Breckenridge City Park after city commissioners approved the replacement of the 32-year-old equipment currently in place. The purchase, which was approved Tuesday, Sept. 5, is the first use of funds from the certificate of obligation that was approved earlier this year.
