Gas prices ease ahead of Labor Day, unexpected surge remains possible
GasBuddy released its annual Labor Day travel forecast, predicting the average price of gas in the U.S. on Labor Day weekend will fall gently to $3.75 per gallon, virtually identical to what motorists experienced for Labor Day weekend last year.
New laws go into effect
A total of 774 new laws went into effect on Sept. 1, affecting Texans in many areas of their lives, the Austin American- Statesman reported. The new laws concern property taxes, registration fees and voting access, among other issues. Several have drawn court challenges from opponents.

Bucks open season with loss, growing pains in Jacksboro
The Buckaroos showed signs of promise and plenty of room for growth when they kicked off the 2023 football season on Friday, Aug. 25 at Jacksboro High School. While scoring on several high-yardage plays, the team also gave up scores in the same fashion. After a 26-point first half, the Buckaroos were held to nine points in the second half and fell to the Tigers, 57-35.
