BISD names new principal at South Elementary
A familiar face will be in a new role when school moves back into session Tuesday, Aug. 8. South Elementary School assistant principal Patricia Gonzalez was named principal of the elementary school following the approval Monday, June 19 by Breckenridge ISD’s Board of Trustees.
BISD staff stipends approved
The Breckenridge ISD Board of Trustees addressed issues filling several roles with an approved stipend increase during its meeting Monday, June 19. The board discussed raising stipends for some positions while creating new stipends for others.
Boomfest to light up Breckenridge
Fireworks will light up the sky Saturday night as the annual Boomfest community fireworks show returns to Hubbard Creek Lake. The Breckenridge Chamber of Commerce has once again teamed up Stowe’s Independent Services for the annual show taking place at 9 p.m. Saturday, July 1.

Missing body found after kayak capsized on Hubbard Creek Lake
The body of a missing kayaker was found Tuesday morning after a nearly twoday- long search on Hubbard Creek Lake. Stephens County Sheriff Kevin Roach confirmed the deceased missing body of Dakota Matthew Boulevard, 42, of Breckenridge was found around 7:45 a.m.

Fast-growing sport finds its way to Breckenridge
Some call it the fastest- growing sport in America today. Pickleball, a sport similar to tennis, has made its way to Breckenridge with a public court opened outside First Christian Church.
