On Thursday, April 29, Judge Michael Roach and members of the Stephens County Child Welfare Board and a few friends gathered on the Stephens County Courthouse steps to hold a candlelight prayer to honor the 20 Foster Children who live with families in our county. No names of the children were given, but the gender, age and a brief description were read off a card and a candle raised in their honor. Judge Roach led the group in prayer and the ceremony concluded amidst a slight drizzle.

It was an invasion from the west as Lorna Ayers brought the Fort Griffin Fandangle Sampler for the Woman’s Forum program in April. This was exactly what it said, a Sampler, of what will come in the full production presented in the oldest Outdoor Theatre in the U.S. for audiences that come from throughout the United States, during the last two weeks of June.

When many were sleeping in on a lazy Saturday morning, the Honorable Judge Michael Roach was in the Stephens County Courthouse presiding over the Moot Trial for Home School children from three counties.

Jack Eddleman, local 12 year-old angler caught this healthy big mouth bass April 18. The fish measured 19.5 inches long and weighed five pounds. Eddleman grinned with pride displaying his catch from Lake Leon.

Just in case you were not aware, the Breckenridge Fine Arts Center has added a new Festival Dress to its’ collection, which now numbers 34 magnificently and elaborately decorated Festival Dresses, courtesy of the owners.

The Swenson Memorial Museum has upgraded the second floor with heating and air conditioning thanks to a grant which Lyn Clark had applied for and brought to fruition.
